HP TouchSmart 610 desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the HP TouchSmart 610 desktop (purchased about 9 years ago) and after I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro earlier this year, I have not been able to use the speakers. I have Beats Audio and have downloaded 3 different drivers from this forum and the installation aborted because they were not the correct ones.

sp71886, sp63555, sp71717

How do I determine the correct driver for my audio?

Thanks!

Hi:

Your notebook is not supported by HP for W10, and if sp71717 didn't work, then there is nothing you can do.

The other drivers you tried are only for notebook PC's.

The only suggestion I can offer to get the sound to work (other than going back to W7) would be to see if this works...

Go to the device manager and click to expand the Sound, video and game controllers device category.

1. Select the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC under that category.
2. Select Driver tab.
3. Click the Update Driver button.
4. Select -> Browse my computer for driver software.
5. Select -> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
6. Select High Definition Audio Device (Not IDT High Def... this is important.) and click Next.
A warning message may appear, but click Yes.
7. Windows has successfully updated your driver software.
8. Restart the PC.
The key is step 6.
