I have a HP243 monitor which does not have built in speakers. I want to know if the usb port on the monitor will power speakers that i purchase and attach. I know I need to connect them with an audio cable to the desktop audio out.I only want to power them.

Either of the 2 USB ports on the back of the monitor could be use for 5VDC @ 900ma speaker power.
