Compaq SR1820NX
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Compaq SR1820NX desktop front audio ports not functioning.  Rear functioning as designed.

Attempts to fix:

Remove in device manager and reinstall.

Unplug and plug back in leads.

Driver reinstall from non HP website.

 CMOS battery reset.

 Tested with Linux Mint and front audio functioning as designed.

Considering this PC came with WinXP according to the SPEC PAGE, how along ago was it upgrade to Windows 7?  And then when was this perceived error noticed?  Some of the audio devices can tell the difference between the front and rear input and output jacks.  Open the Realtek Audio Manager to see possible options.  Here is a guide for what it might look like:
