Envy 32
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My recently purchased Envy 32 produces very low and garbled sound through the microphone, such that I can't do Zoom or other meetings on this computer. The sound problem persists whether I use the built-in mic or an external one. With support, we've updrivers, used the troubleshooting apps, adjusted settings, etc., but with no luck. The only alternative support has given me is to mail them the computer, and then they'll reinstall Windows, etc. I'm not confident that's going to do anything.

Has anyone had and solved this issue? I've tried all the online recommendations from HP support, and worked with them on the phone as well. I think it's a driver issue, but it's hard to say.

One thing I WISH I could try is to boost the microphone volume in the sound settings, but that option isn't shown for me. Anyway, any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Hi@agbiggs,Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?
  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

To resolve these issues, download and install the following SoftPaq to update the audio driver: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp107001-107500/sp107252.exe

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your help. The link to the SoftPaq update didn't work; it was a dead link. Could you resend it?

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?

No.

  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?

I don't believe so, other than installing usual aps like Office.

  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

Yes, everything I could find online, plus over an hour with HP Tech Support.
