HP Pavilion p6-2330 Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi,

I actually have Windows 10 on this Desktop computer.   After my Mom got a new computer and gave me this one, I haven't had sound.  I completely erased everything off of it on the restore.  I know it originally came with Windows 8.  I can't get audio from headphones or computer speakers.  First I tried on the speaker/sound symbol the troubleshoot sound problems.  Never could get anything to work there.  I tried Microsoft's help and they actually through an app went through my computer and tried to fix it with me seeing what they're doing.  Never seen that before but they said to get in touch with HP and ask for their help.  The guy from Microsoft couldn't fix it.  He said I'm missing a driver.  I would like to get sound working but don't know how.  It was working when my Mom had it last.

I think IDT got bought out by Renesas

Hopefully this will work as I recall having problems finding IDT drivers for an old system I had.

After trying the first link you mentioned, the red circle with an x in the middle went away and 3 "sound lines" replaced it, however I still have no sound.  It looks like my computer recognizes my speakers and headphones now but still no sound.

Are there any yellow alert icons in the device manager?

Can you run the sound troubleshooter?

Try to repeat what the MS tech support did. I no longer have any system with IDT audio

Hi, @hskr121

You need this W10 IDT audio driver for your PC:

Tempo High-Definition Audio Driver (Original IDT)

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71717.exe

Restart the PC after installing the driver.
