HP Audio Switch Box

HP Recommended

HI

I am having the same problem that there is this dashboard audio icon that is at the top of my PC screen and it will not go away. It does not allow me to click on it. I did control-alt-delete Task Manager and found an HP Audio Control function listed - it was not active - but I closed it anyway. I still cannot get rid of this and it is blocking viewing of tabs in my browser. The only thing I need to try is reboot but I don't want to do that.

Can you help me?

Rolls

Hi @rollsross,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting an audio box on the desktop screen.

I'll be glad to assist you 🙂

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps to resolve this issue.

Step 1 – Right-click on an empty area on the Taskbar and select Task Manager.

Step 2 – When Task Manager comes up, click the Startup tab and look through the list of programs that are enabled to run during startup. Then to stop them from running, right-click the program and select Disable.

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care!

Cheers!

I was following this post and I did what you said, right click empty space, select Task Manager, look for item, right click to disable, but I don't have the disable option, there is an end process blue botton under the whole task manager box.  By the way it just showed up today anfd I haven't added or removed any software. Thanks
