So after trying several webcams with built-in mics, I finally had to call tech support for help with a new desktop, not even 6 months old. Tech support then tells me I have to pay $60 plus $20 monthly in order to get the support to fix what is a known issue to them.
HP is garbage, and there's no way I will ever buy another HP product. I should've learned my lesson the last time. I'll be sure to let everyone know to never buy HP.

@jennipa, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

So the HP rep sent a private message just wasting more of my time and going around in circles. I will NEVER buy HP again. It's a scam. They just keep trying to redirect you to the subscription based IT service help, even though my warranty is still good.
Total garbage.
Don't buy any HP products unless you enjoy flushing $ down the toilet.
