Hi. I'm having the exact same issue with the left speaker popping when any application is running. Its driving me insane and for a relatively expensive computer I should not be having these defects. The only way to stop this annoying sound is to disable the sound driver which means no more sound for anything obviously.
Can you please let me know what to do from here as this is obviously a common issue with this model?

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, this sounds like driver related issue,
- Have you made any hardware/software changes?
- Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
- Have you tried with external speakers?
While you respond to that, let's try these steps:
Firstly, run Hard Reset:
Turn off the computer.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.
Next step, BIOS default:
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
Next step, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon .
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

I followed the instructions even though I was not very hopeful that it would fix the problem and as it turns out I was right. The popping sound problem still exists after all that. I even reset/reinstalled windows and it is till happening.
Not sure where to go from here but not very happy!
Can you please let me know what my other options are?

There is clearly a hardware issue with the speakers and being a Bang & Olufsen you would imagine they would come with somewhat a superior quality and not fall apart.
The only way I managed to stop the annoying popping was to essentially cut the speaker wire by removing the trim around the screen. Its fixed the issue so far but I am one speaker short. I'll keep you posted if the "pop" travels to any other speaker.
Ridiculous to spend thousands on a lemon!
