HP Pavilion 24-k0019na Full-HD All-in-On
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I have just purchased a HP Pavilion 24-k0019na Full-HD All-in-On and the built in microphone works fine on Skype and Zoom but on Microsoft Teams everyone hears their voice as an echo when I am on the call.

The problem isn't with my Teams account as it works fine on my laptop.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

@BeckyB2020 If it works fine on Zoom and Skype, this confirms the issue isn't related to the device's hardware components, however, to help you out, I suggest you reinstall the MS Teams and check if it works, if not, refer to Microsoft Teams Support assistance.

Hello @Riddle_Decipher. Thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately I have already tried re-installing Teams and it doesn't help.

Also it seems the issue isn't just related to Teams - it is there on Zoom etc too - unless the speaker volume is very low.

I keep being advised to buy a headset to solve the problem but would rather not do this if there is any chance that it can be sorted by changing settings on the computer. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions!

Many thanks.

@BeckyB2020 Try the following:

Important:

  • Make sure that the device you are using is optimized for Lync.

  • For a list of optimized devices, see Phones and Devices Qualified for Microsoft Lync.

  • Lower your speaker volume to reduce the echo.

  • If your microphone or audio device is near a wall or other reflective surface that does not absorb sound, consider moving the microphone or changing its direction away from the reflective surface to reduce potential echoes.

  • If you’re using your webcam’s microphone or your computer speakers, try using a different audio device such as a headset, handset, or standard microphone.

  • If possible, try placing the microphone as far away as possible from the computer speakers because audio output from the speakers may feed into the microphone and produce echoes.

  • If you are using a laptop with an integrated sound card that supports Microphone Boost, disabling Microphone Boost can help you isolate the issue:

    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    2. In Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.

    3. In the Sound dialog box, on the Recording tab, select your microphone, and then click Properties.

    4. In the Microphone Properties dialog box, on the Levels tab, uncheck the Microphone Boost check box (if available).
