Please help I'm at my wits end!

Ive purchased a new headset to use in calls, and I can't for the life of me work out why my PC refuses to detect my microphone, it's connected to the pc via a Y splitter for mic and headphones, I've tried the front AND back ports to no avail. The headphones part works perfectly. But pc is not detecting any mic activity! I know the mic works as I've used it on my phone so I don't believe that to be the issue but I've tried reinstalling the RealTec drivers and all sorts but it just refuses to connect... I really don't know what to do.

Ive gone through all of the troubleshooting available on the help section of HP and none of it has done anything incl. checking the volumes etc.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm going crazy trying to work it out!

@Ukitso

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  1. Make sure your microphone is connected to your PC.
  2. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
  3. In Sound settings, go to Input > Choose your input device, and then select the microphone or recording device you want to use.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
