I have exactly the same issue.  I can sound working if I plug in a bluetooth headset but can't get anything out of the speakers.

It just shows a little x on the volume icon and says no device found

In device manager I can see that the Intel High Definition Audio device is showing up as 'other device' with an exclamation mark.  When I try to update the driver I get told that it can't find anything, same with windows update.

I've tried manually downloading the driver from Intel but not had much luck there, doesn't want to install.  Can't find anything for windows 11 on the HP website either.  The sound drivers for windows 10 don't do anything

Sounds seemed to disappear after a windows update.  Will try uninstalling those to see if they make any difference

Uninstalling the microsoft update didn't do anything so I reinstalled it.

I eventually managed to fix it by going to the Intel High Definition Audio driver in device manager and manually installed a driver.  I selected "Sound and Video Game Controllers" and the HD Audio Driver for Display Audio, under Intel.  I just chose the latest version (november 2022 I think)

That made my sound work again.  Very odd though that there was no automatic fix for it
