Bang & Olufsen speakers were working fine.  Then, one day, POOF, they weren't.  The speaker icon says "No Audio Output Device Installed".  When I click on the Bang & Olufsen Audio Control app, nothing happens.  I went through all of the troubleshooting suggested in the HP support section, including reinstalling BIOS to ensure it is up to date, reinstalling audio drivers, etc.  But nothing works.  Is this a hardware failure?  Some lost connection inside the cabinet?  Or can this be fixed through some software correction?

Never ever contact HP Support..contacting HP is 1. extremely difficult and 2. suicidal. The HP Support in Oman- Redington Support Services, wanted me to come to them with a formatted All-In-One. My system is under warranty but I refused to do a format to fix an update issue. Pathetic. The workaround I did is as under and got my audio back. Absolutely no formatting. What a poor recommendation you have given @Asmita6658

Solution that worked for me:

  • Open Device Manager (Open the start menu, type Device Manager and press enter) and select System Devices (close to the end of the list).
  • Locate Intel Smart Sound Technology driver (SST).
  • Right-click and select Update Driver from the pop-up menu.
  • Choose browse my computer for driver software and then Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer and select High Definition Audio.
  • Click Next.
  • Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) driver will disappear and you should have Audio back.

Hi @skynogu

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the audio issue.

Let's try these steps -

Step 1 Run Audio troubleshooter -

1) In Windows, type "Find and fix audio" into Search, or right-click the speaker icon on the taskbar and select Troubleshoot sound problems.

2) Select Find and fix audio playback problems or Find and fix audio recording problems from the Search results.

Step 2 Re-install the Audio drivers -

1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

2) Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

3) Right click on the Audio drivers and click on uninstall.

4) Restart the computer.

If the issue still persists, try additional steps from this document - HP PCs - A 'No Audio Device is installed' Message Displays

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have the same issue on same device.  It happened a few months ago, and I couldn't solve it.

Then there was a BIOS update that solved it.

Now it has just happened again, and I am desperate to speak to a human to help me fix it.

I don't understand the steps given, and so far they haven't worked.  It is a bigger issue than just updating missing drivers.

From what I can tell this model fails with windows updates, have tried everything I know how...

Please help!

Hi Asmita, there is no way to contact them, any attempts just take you to the support assistant which is no help at all for this problem.

I had the same problem on a similar All-In-One caused due to a faulty Microsoft update of the Intel drivers. It was resolved by using this simple workaround

This solution from Way2anand absolutely worked.  Simple. Direct.

All other suggestions by HP Support were way off.

Thank you Way2anand!
