It was suggested I install a PCIe sound board. I checked on several, such as Creative 9SIA2F83MX9460 but found many of the reviews say it doesn't work with Windows 10, while others say it works fine. Is there something to look for so that I get a board that works?

Make sure you research all the sound board options. Mainly checking to see with the manufacterer if the board is compatible with windows 10. Some require using their driver to get them to work properly. I have seen some sound and video cards that state they are not compatible. Microsoft is doing their best to fix all the issues but, well glad that is not my nightmare!
