I have connected my new HP All-In-One PC with a second HP monitor via a HDML cable and lost my audio.  Audio works when monitor is disconnected.

Going through your post, I understand that you are facing issues with the audio while using the HDMI to connect to your external display.

 

I found a wonderful document to help you fix this issue. Please follow the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2t51UU2 

Start with the steps listed under "Select HDMI sound output as the default audio device".
