Pavilion HPE H8-1230
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My audio stopped abruptly.  I have downloaded updated drivers and gone whru all of the online suggestions.  It appears that when I plug in my speakers to the back of the PC, in the green 3.5mm plug jack, it is not recognizing it as being plugged in.    Could the integrated IDT audio connection be bad?  This PC does not have a stand-alone audio card, correct?  What needs to be replaced to try and fix this problem?  Thank you.

Hi:

If you already tried this driver and restarted the PC, the only suggestion I can offer would be to purchase an inexpensive PCIe x1 audio card that is compatible with W10.

Thanks Paul.  Yes, I have already installed SP71717, without any luck.  So does the 'PCIe x1 audio card that is compatible with W10' just plug in?  Open up the PC, remove the 'bad' card, and just install the new one?  Is it something a rookie can do?

You're very welcome.

It should be even easier than that, since the audio that is not working is onboard.

So, there is no card to remove.

You just need to put the new card in one of the 3 small black PCIe x1 slots on the motherboard.

Hi Paul.

I even took an easier way out today.  I bought one of these from a local PC repair shop for $9.00...but later on I will install a better quality sound card.  But this little gadget actually works great for now!

Yes, those will work a lot of the time too.

Glad it worked for you.
