No sound through monitor via an hdmi input

I'll try and keep my questions simply by explaining what my problem is first! 

I have used used my monitor as a screen for my PS4 and sky upstairs as it saves having a tv and a cpu, it worked great the sound use to come out of the monitor but now it has stopped and I have no idea why I still get a picture but no sound?

i have changed the hdmi lead, done the obvious checking volume is up, it's not like when you are in windows you don't get much options to play with, 'only menu osd function keys are available' 

any ideas anyone? Thanks
