Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I recently started  up my kid's computer which has not been used for several years.  All is great (wifi, internet, apps) but there is no sound.  When I click on the sound icon, nothing happens.  So, there is no way for me to check where the problem lies.  Appreciate any help here!

Hi:

It could be anything.

One thing for sure is you have to connect a pair of PC speakers in the light green audio out jack.

The PC does not have an internal speaker.

Only HP business desktop PC's, and all in one PC's come with an internal speaker.

If you had plugged in a set of speakers, see if installing the latest Realtek audio driver gets the sound to work again.

Accept the agreement.  Download and install the Windows 64 bit driver from the link below.

PC Audio Codecs > High Definition Audio Codecs Software - REALTEK

Also make sure that the PC speakers are the default audio output device in the Windows Control Panel>Hardware and Sound.
