I have a Schiit Modi 2. When connecting it via the USB, I lose the ability to use any other audio (onboard card or monitor audio). It will arbitrarily recognize one or the other (USB DAC or onboard card/monitor). Sometimes one, sometimes the other. The only way I've found to fix it is to reinstall everything and restart. As soon as it goes into sleep mode for a period of time, I lose some audio functionality. I hopped on to get help from MS via chat. They told me I needed to buy a new DAC. I bought a new one, same problem. Does anyone have any ideas to fix this issue?

Possibly this is a problem with the Modi 2 as discussed here

You might try the "stereo mix" capability of windows 10 & 11
