Pavillion 500-214
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey guys, long time no talk....anyway, I have a issue with being able to run sound to my TV via HDMI but not being able to run sound out of my output jack from compuer to stereo system. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this work?? I'd appreciate the help. For details I have a Pavillion 214-500 (Windows 10) that i converted to HDMI (because...I was bored) . My new TV has a digital out connection but I prefer to use the audio output from the computer however it wont plat the hdmi sound and the stereo sound at the same time. Is there something I could do with the computer of is there a sofeware program I could use to remedy this issue?? Thanking you in advance for your help .

@GANSR1963,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the sound is playing from both the TV and the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you checked the options to turn off the volume on the TV?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the below steps to

Step 1: To make the stereo speakers as the default device

a.    Click on Start; Go to Control Panel.

b.    Click on Sound.

c.    Switch to playback.

d.    Select your speakers as the default device.

e.    Save the changes by clicking on OK.

Step 2: Uninstall and re-install your audio device drivers

a.    Click on Start; in the start search type “devmgmt.msc” without quotes and press Enter.

b.    Expand Sound, Video and Game controllers.

c.    Right click on the audio component and then click uninstall.

d.    Then restart the computer and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hello, and thanks for the reply. I meant that they will NOT play simultaneously only the HDMI through the TV. I've tried the output jace at the back of the computer but nothing. . Is there someway I can activate that jack to allow that sound AND the HDMI to work together, or an I just experimenting ??

Thanks again for your help.
