Re: Realtek Driver Upgrade

HP Recommended

Pleased to hear from 2 clients that the loss of sound on their AIO 24-xa machines with Realtek drivers has been rectified. Luckily on 1 machine a driver roll back worked for a while until overwritten again

@Gerry_B

if your realtek audio driver is being overwritten with a new version, use Microsoft's wushowhide.diagcab tool from MS support KB article 3073930 to hide/block any driver updates the Win10 OS may automatically download & install w/out your consent.  rollback the realtek driver and immediately use wushowhide.diagcab to hide any new realtek audio driver updates that MS offers.

I use wushowhide.diagcab and "metered" internet connections to stop some of those unwanted updates on my bro's HP spectre x360 laptop running Win10 home since he's not using an HP desktop

Many thanks, WuShowHide a good thought, but sadly issue this seems to have come from HP via the automated HP Assist which was set to load drivers. On one pc the prior version wasn't available, an MS Win upgrade had wiped Restore Points and downloading from the HP Support site failed to fix the issue. Strange.

Also, setting Win10 as a Metered connection only works on WiFi links
