Hi,
I've just bought an external screen (HP Z27n G2) for my 2015 Macbook Pro. I'd missed that it didn't have inbuilt speakers, so bought separately the S101 soundbar. I can't get any sound out of the speakers. The screen is connected to the Mac with an HDMI cable (not included in the original pack).
The mac recognizes the soundbar (Sound > Output), there is power (white light), however there is no audio coming out.
I've tried plugging the USB into both the HP Z27n and directly into the Mac.
Any recommendations?

couldn't get audio outputted with HDMI (ARC), despite having an HDMI (ARC) port my TV, until I enabled the "Audio Receiver" in the CEC menu. . On my TV, it's located in Setup > CEC, and CEC must be enabled. Seems obvious retrospectively.
Most newer TVs have CEC options, so you might try this if you can't get your sound bar to work, even if you don't have the exact TV that I do.

Thank you for the response. My MacBook from 2015 doesn’t have these settings.
Is my hardware out of date and newer models of MacBooks are compatible?
I really appreciate the support. The HP distributor hasn’t been helpful in resolving my question.
