Sound ONLY comes out of my HP w2338h monitor, even with headphones/speakers.

HP w2338h Monitor
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

When I plug in headphones or speakers to any jack they dont show up in playback devices and no sound comes out of them. Ive tried many options; disabling/abling the playback devices, moving around headphone jacks, I dont know what to do. And when there are speakers or  headphones plugged in there is a playback device named "Speakers" but it keeps saying 'Not plugged in' no matter what I do.

Please help

I would like to use headphones and external speakers please.

Greetings @jumpyJ

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are not getting any audio from the speakers or headphones. Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

May I know which computer you are using? Desktop or notebook.

Have you run an audio test on your computer?

How is the monitor connect to your computer?

Kudos to you for trying a lot to troubleshooting steps on your own.

Recommend you to try the steps in HP PCs - Troubleshooting HDMI Display and Sound Issues

HP Notebook PCs - No Sound from Speakers

You can also run the troubleshooter available in the control panel and run HP Support Assitant to make sure all the drivers are updated on the computer.

Let me know how it goes.

Im using a custom built desktop computer that has always worked amazingly except for this sound issue.

If you mean a sound test via the 'troubleshooting' aplication then yes I have.

I have also tested all of the available devices in the sound manager as well and no matter what I 'enable' or test the only thing that will produce sound is the monitor.

All of the trouble shooting ive hone leads me to believe the monitor is the issue.

My graphics card is connected to my HP w2338h monitor via HDMI.

There is no port for a VGA cable either on my graphics card.

I cant seem to figure anything out event after looking through the link you sent me.

I will attach screenshots of my playback devices.playback devices SS_1.pngplayback devices SS_2.png
