The sound on my computer just stopped working, no messages, nothing. I haven't upgraded or anything. I have checked  the control panel>hardware and sound an everything seems ok.  I would appreciate any help you can give me.  Many thanks

Thank you for all you replies.  I tried everything you said, but to no avail.  My husband ran CCCleaner through the computer and it said that there was a broken link to real player. Which we fixed and then everything went back to normal I'm happy to say.
