Example: Pavilion p7-1414
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I reset Windows and now have a red X at the speaker icon.  System does not recognize any audio device I plug in to any jack.  Trouble shooting doesn't work.  HP site says they have no drivers for the product.

Hi:

 

Your PC is not supported by HP for W10.

 

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if the W10 IDT audio driver from a newer model desktop PC works on yours too.

 

Restart the PC after installing the driver...
