Hello everyone!
My son has a PC; HP 580-009no.
I have a problem connecting a gaming headset to the PC.
First we bought a headset with pink and green socket. Nothing happened when we connected the headset on the back in those ports / inputs, so I returned it.
Now I have bought another headset, with two options: a USB connection and a 3.5mm pin socket. This is because my job headset worked on the computer via the USB socket. However, nothing happens when I insert the new headset into the USB port on the back of the PC. However, it did not work in the USB port on my work laptop either. When connecting the 3.5mm pin socket on the work latop, the headset was detected without any issues.
So now my hope is that I can use the 3.5mm pin socket on the PC. This socket is located on the front of the PC, but when I try to plug in the cord, it feels like the hole on the PC is too small. Do you know if it is another measure on the PC (in mm)?
If so, are there adapters for that purpose that I can buy, which go between the headset and the PC (ie maybe 3.5 mm large at one end and then for example a 2.5 mm pin at the other end)?

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05575475
It has standard Headphone/Microphone combo port at its front and a line out port at its back. Both are 3.5mm. You may want to try (if you believe it is 2.5mm).
