HP Pavillion 500-402A
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Just installed new computer, plugged in external  speakers working fine for a couple of days (Itunes/ videos) etc..

Unfortunately there is no longer sound coming from computer or speakers or headphone ??

Have tried every trouble shooting suggestion from usual supports, upgrades to drivers, device manager, coputer manager, reboots etc..

The speaker icon on task bar shows sound pulsing but no audio at all..any suggestions should I upgrade to windows 10..??

Audio Out not working on HP Pavillion

2017 12 01 The HP has audio out at rear middle socket and an audio out at the front panel, for headphones.  For a while the rear did not work and MS OS does not recognise a fault but will play from the front output.

Solution & Explanation:  HP use B&O which puts a layer of control over the MS OS and in the Win10 Control Panel you see the speaker with the bars moving showing a sound is in the system but is not coming out of the rear.  You cannot remedy this by the MS OS but only via the HP B&O control panel.

Solution: for a clear understanding, taskbar - right click speaker icon – click “Playback” – observe that only the speaker is shown, keep this dbox visible and now:

Taskbar - ^ chevron to show hidden taskbar items – click B&O to see their control panel – select Advanced Settings – at the bottom “Enable playback multi-streaming” click Enable – notice that in the Sound dbox another item is added, the front output that is intended for the speakers.
