(1) Update audio driver
IDT High Definition Audio Driver | 6.10.6418.0 Rev.A | 17.1 MB | Mar 7, 2015 | Download |
(2) Install Support Assistant
HP Support Assistant | 7.7.34.34 Rev.A | 35.9 MB | Sep 22, 2014 | Download |
(3) Start Support Assistant and update all drivers/devices and check for for hardware issues
(4) Reboot and test again ...

ok, try again ...
(1) In Windows device manager please select current audio device (right click) to uninstall (don't reboot !)
(2) Update audio driver
IDT High Definition Audio Driver | 6.10.6418.0 Rev.A | 17.1 MB | Mar 7, 2015 | Download |
(3) Now reboot and test again ...
