@Dawgslife, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing low volume output from the 3.5mm audio jack on your HP Pavilion Desktop - 550-153w, even though Bluetooth audio works fine. Let's walk through some steps to help resolve this issue.
Check Default Playback Device
- Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
- Go to the Playback tab.
- Ensure your external audio system is set as the Default Device.
- Click Properties > Levels and make sure the volume is set to 100%.
Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers
- Go to Device Manager (right-click Start > Device Manager).
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
If that doesn’t help:
- Right-click the device again and choose Uninstall device.
- Restart your PC. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
Alternatively, you can download the latest audio drivers from HP: Official HP® Support
Check Audio Enhancements
- Go to Sound settings > Playback > Properties > Enhancements tab.
- Try disabling all enhancements and test the volume.
- If already disabled, try enabling Loudness Equalization.
Try HP Support Assistant
- Download and run the HP Support Assistant to automatically detect and fix audio issues: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
Test with Different Audio Cable or Port
- Try using a different 3.5mm audio cable or test the audio jack with headphones to rule out hardware issues.
- If your PC has both front and rear audio jacks, test both.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
