HP All-in-one ENVY
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I press the power button, the screen remains blank (no HP splash logo, or cursors....just blank). The power button lights up, and the HDD light flashes every now and then. I can hear the fan running.

I can sometimes get this machine working by repeatedly going through the power cycle, and after many attempts (sometimes over an hour of going through powering on and off) it will boot up OK.

I have tried leaving it for 30 minites with the black screen to see if it will eventually power on, but it never does. I have also replaced the CMOS battery, Reseated memory and reseated 256 SDD but again no luck to solve this boot up problem.

@rainman70,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
