Hi @Jmiss59,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the BSOD.

Experiencing frequent Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors on a new laptop can be frustrating, especially if you've never encountered this issue before. There are several potential reasons for BSODs, even on a relatively new laptop:

1. Driver Issues

  • Outdated or Corrupted Drivers: Sometimes, drivers that come pre-installed on new laptops might have issues, or updates might be needed.
  • Incompatible Drivers: If you've installed any new hardware or peripherals, they might have incompatible drivers.

2. Hardware Problems

  • Faulty RAM: Even new laptops can have defective hardware. Faulty RAM is a common culprit for BSODs.
  • Overheating: If your laptop is overheating, it might trigger a BSOD to prevent hardware damage.
  • Power Supply Issues: A malfunctioning power supply or battery could lead to sudden shutdowns and BSODs.

3. Software Conflicts

  • Recently Installed Software: If you've recently installed new software, it could be conflicting with your system, causing BSODs.
  • Malware or Viruses: Malware can also cause system instability and BSODs.

4. Operating System Issues

  • Corrupted System Files: Corrupted Windows files can lead to BSOD errors.
  • Recent Windows Updates: Sometimes, a recent Windows update might cause instability, leading to BSODs.

Steps to Troubleshoot

Check for Updates:

  • Ensure all your drivers are up to date, especially graphics, chipset, and network drivers.
  • Check for any pending Windows updates.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant or the built-in Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool to check for hardware issues.
  • You can also run the "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics" tool from the boot menu.

Check for Overheating:

  • Ensure your laptop's vents are not blocked, and the fans are working properly.
  • Use a cooling pad if necessary.

Scan for Malware:

  • Run a full system scan using a reputable antivirus program.

Analyze the BSOD Error Code:

  • Take note of the specific error code that appears during the BSOD (e.g., "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR," "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT").
  • Use the Windows Event Viewer or a tool like BlueScreenView to analyze the error code for more details.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If the BSODs started after a recent software installation or update, try performing a System Restore to revert to a previous stable state.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Uninstall any recently installed software or drivers that might be causing conflicts.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, it might be a good idea to contact HP support for further assistance, as your laptop is still under warranty.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
