Product: HP Compaq dc7900 Small Form Factor PC (ENERGY STAR)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an HP Compaq dc7900 Small Form Factor PC. When I turn it on, it starts beeping 5 times. Is the issue on the DIMMs or the computer?

It could be either.

 

Follow the 5 Beep code troubleshooting steps in the Troubleshooting Guide at the link below, Appendix A, page 58.

If the PC still beeps after you did the troubleshooting steps with the memory modules, then the motherboard is bad.

It does not start. It is still beeping 5 times. Is the system board faulty?

If you followed the memory troubleshooting steps--reseat the memory, test each chip one at a time, and the PC still beeps, the system board needs to be replaced.

 

Not worth it in my opinion.
