750SE won't power up

750SE desktop
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

18 month old 750 SE refused to turn on after working perfectly previously. No beeps, BSOD, or anything. The green light on the PS is on but after several trys to restart is does on occasion flash several times before going solid.

Tried shorting the PS green/black wires and got the fan to spin so I'm hoping the power supply is good. No other obvious visible problems. Only modification was to install an SSD about a month ago. Never an issue or problem until today.

Thought maybe I had a loose power switch connection and in checking it out somehow loosened the switch from it's inside clip. Now I need to figure out how to get to the power switch inside the top of the case to take another look and somehow seat it back in it's proper position. Everything on the top of the case looks riveted with no way to remove it to get at the power switch.

Any thoughts on checking out the no start issue and maybe accessing the power switch to make sure it looks good?

Thanks.

750SE won't power up

I was able to remove the top of the case and front bezel so I now have access to the power switch and it looks good but who knows.

Biggest issue is trying to figure out the sudden "no start" on the power up.

Any thoughts out there?

Thanks.

750SE won't power up

Tried hooking up a good PS with same rating never used. Jumping the green/black pins on it's own made the fan run.

Plugging the 4-pin and main 24 pin into the MB and got no power up for the computer.

Need this unit for home and work so if I don't hear back anything here, it goes to the repair shop tomorrow.

Unfortunately no response here to my query. Problem was the motherboard according to the repair tech. Very unhappy with HP on a less than 2 year old unit.

@rallynfool1

Trace the start button wires to the motherboard header. You should be able to short the two terminals pins (two pins after the empty hole 8+6) together and see if you can get the PC to start.front panel pin outs.jpg

Motherboard was the issue. Replaced it with a Gigabyte. Responded on one of the other frums here as well.

Thx.
