pavillion 550
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

my issue is the same as this old thread (and how i found this form) http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/A7-Me-FW-Downgrade-Request-Me-Spilock-Failed/td...

I have just taken delivery of a refurbished pavillion which has the above BIOS issue, it didnt come with any recovery disk or USB.

The company can replace it but its going to be in January, so if i can sort this myself and my kids actually have a christmas present I will obviously be very happy, and slightly less angry lol

I cant get it to start in safe mode even (assuming safe mode is f11) any idea of a work around if i cant get in to execute me.bat?

thanks in advance

Hello Resolv_S,
I know practically nothing about computers and I have had mine for 1 1/2 years (I dont know what kind it is because it does not say on the computer itself and when I try to look it up on Dell as it is a newer Dell computer, the service tag does not match with any of their computers). Anyway, I updated my BIOS and now I have the same problem as everyone else, a black screen with only (A7) Me FW Downgrade - Request Me Spinlock Failed. I have searched all over the internet for an answer and all I have come up with is to return it and get a new one. I bought it in December of 2015 so the warranty has expired. I have not been able to contact Dell because you have to put in the service tag of the computer to get the number for a specialist, but my service tag does not match. If you have any information of how to get out of this mess it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
