All in one dual boot not detecting Mouse or Keyboard.

Pavilion All in one 1001-r019
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm trying to get my All in one PC to dual boot with Windows 10 and windows 7. It seems like the boot loader disables the keyboard and mouse when I launch into the Windows 7 setup screen.

I turned on legacy mode and disabled secure boot. I also updated the BIOS and firmware.

Is there some combination of keys I have to use to get the PC to enable the boot loader, so when I get into the startup I can continue installing Windows 7 or is Windows 7 just flat out incompatible...

Thanks, your help is appreciated.

Hi,

Please post the HP product number for your PC. How to Find the HP Model Number and the HP Product Number or let HP automatically find your PC model number and HP network attached printers. This will allow others to review your issue, make suggestions and review your responses. This is usually the best way to get assistance.

Plug the keyboard and mouse into USB 2 ports (if available).  W7 will not load USB 3 drivers at boot time.

Additionally, you will need to run W7 in legacy mode and not UEFI mode.

Use W7 sp1 installation media.

Backup your data and be sure to create the HP external recovery media.

Hi,

Your PC is not certified for W7 so you might need to locate a couple of drivers.

We might be running into a snake pit with only one HD in your PC.  I prefer to run each OS on a separate HDs/SSDs.

Backup your data and be sure to create the external recovery media.

Be sure that the BIOS in your PC is set to legacy mode.

Do a full HP recovery to the existing HD and make sure that your PC boots up.

Open up the PC and disconnect the HD.

Install a m.2 PCIe SATA SSD 512GB.

Boot up and install W7 to the new m.2 PCIe SATA SSD. Make sure that your PC boots up with W7.

Open up the PC and now connect the HD.

You can go into the BIOS and set your preferred boot device.

In case the above doesn't work, know what the return policy is before you buy the SSD or keep it and just load W10 to it. Then use the HD as storage.
