Solved!

BIOS Administrator Password

HP Recommended
Z240 SFF Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I got this computer from an office that was about to throw it away. Talk about lucky lol.... I installed Windows 10 student edition from a usb drive so I can use it as my personal desktop for school. However, I can't seem to access the BIOS settings because there is an administrator password. Same for the BIOS update. I don't know if there is a default password or if someone created one. Anyway, I need to disable or reset the BIOS Admin password, or if it is a default password I need to know it. Help please?? Thanks

Hi:

See the service manual at the link below, chapter 5, starting on page 82 for how to clear the BIOS P/W.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04897695

If that doesn't clear the P/W, then stringent security was set by the person who established the P/W, and nothing can be done to clear it.

You're very welcome.

Yes, you made out like a bandit with scoring that PC for free.
