I've been trying to reset my PC for a while now. I've been experiencing pretty bad stutter and I wanted to try resetting my PC to fix it. However, BIOS is preventing me from completing the reset because every time I try to reset, the computer will restart and ask me for a BIOS password. The whole BIOS password thing has been an issue for a while now, but I ignored it because I could just enter the password wrong 3 times and still boot into windows. However, now that I'm trying to reset my PC, it's become a huge issue. I remember the whole BIOS password query started a while ago when something in my System Firmware was bugging out, it kept wanting me to restart my PC and enter a BIOS password. Eventually I just disabled system firmware and moved. I would really appreciate any help getting past this BIOS just so I can reset my PC, thank you.

@ hawier Welcome to the HP Community 🙂

You would have to contact HP for a hardware service as the motherboard may require a Bios Flash.

Any other way of unlocking the BIOS is not authorized by HP.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
