Thanks for the suggestion, I tried all that and I had to replace the hard drive. Now I wanted to get a recovery file from HP to down load and run. I can't find a recovery down load for my computer on the HP site. I would have liked to get the original software and windows that came on my computer.  But I guess HP doesn't have it. And I can't get windows from HP to reinstall. I don't know if I have to purchase windows for the new hard drive or if HP will provide it.
