My computer wouldn't start after a Windows update. I ran all diagnostics and passed. I ran the HP recovery tool from a USB drive. Now I get a message "The recovery attempt has failed. Select one of the following:
Save log. Details. Retry.
Retry doesn't work. I try to boot into bios by pressing F10 or F9 or Escape but it doesn't work and goes back to the recovery failed message. I'm stumped.

Getting to the BIOS screen needs to be started before actually starting the computer and it is sometimes difficult. I recommend doing it this way.
Start tapping the Esc key and then press the start button.
Keep tapping the Esc key until a popup menu shows. Then pick BIOS setup from that popup menu, F10 or F9, or whichever you want.
When you say the HP Recovery tool - do you mean the HP Cloud Recovery tool or are you speaking of this?

I'm not an HP employee.
