Hi, i recently found this pc in my so called pile of $#1t, this is my only pc right now and i put a hdd in it, started it up, plugged my trusty windows usb in the back, and the first thing that it said was "default bios settings have been loaded". So i started it again coz it didnt see the hard drive (it has windows 10 installed to it) so i went into the settings and tried to switch secure boot off and legacy on but as soon as i saved it and exited from the bios it said the same bs again "default..." ykr? I've tried to put a setup password and also the startup, i've cleared cmos, i've put a new cmos battery in it. I have never updated the bios on this pc. It just doesnt switch off secure boot (it kinda does but as soon as i save and restart it loads defaults).

I really need help in this, i dont currently have any other pcs right now. Have a nice day.

edit: i've used both f10 and escape (startup menu) to go into bios, i've used the numpad and the numbers above the alphabet, i've tried to put my ram in to another channel and i've put a new cmos battery into the pc. Mb is msi ms-7778(jasmine). 8gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram, amd a10-6700.

Hi

It maybe that the Disk is setup for Secure/GPT and you want a Legacy/MBR option.

Try booting Lubuntu and using Gparted to setup your drive.

It's mbr, and i cant really boot into a usb flash drive. I have my windows 7 ultimate usb fdd, and i must have legacy mode on to boot in to it, and it doesnt wanna disable secure boot when im in bios (i enable legacy and disable secure boot -> save and exit >》restart -> it just loads default bios settings). I dont have another pc right now so thats another problem aswell.

Hi

So you added the USB drivers for W7 to your version of W7?  Because it really prefers DVD install.

And you have used something like Gparted to setup your HDD?

If you try and understand it may not be the Default and consider it may be the HDD that is set as Secure Boot and so that is your only choice, UNTIL YOU change it.  So wipe the HDD as though it is Factory Fresh and start from there.
