Desktop hp envy TE01-1022 product 13Z69AA#ABA
Purchased april 2022
Intel Core i7-10700, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive & 512 GB SSD Storage, Windows 11
I turned on the computer yesterday night for the first time in a month
and left it on overnight. I did not install anything, just downloaded email (no idea if Windows tried to download something automatically while i was asleep).
This morning it displays
Preparing Automatic Repair - Diagnosing your PC - and the blue screen of Automatic Repair
and i can't get out of the loop.
All the Troubleshoot-Advanced Options result in restarting with Automatic Repair
Advanced Options - Starup Repair results in Attempting Repairs and back to the blue screen on Startup Repair
Advanced Options - Startup settings - Safe Mode - 4 doesn't work - it reenters Automatic Repair (ie i can't book in safe mode),
Basically, Startup settings does not work: it always restarts with Automatic Repair
Advanced Options - Uninstall Updates doesn't work: it says it can't
I used the command prompt and ran
sfc /scannow FOUND CORRUPTED FILES but still doesn't boot
Tried to repair Boot Configuration Data but
bootrec /fixboot doesn't work: ACCESS IS DENIED
Whatever i tried in Troubleshoot-Advanced Options, it always restarts with Automatic Repair
Preparing Automatic Repair - Diagnosing your PC - and the blue screen of Automatic Repair
I also tried to Disconnect the AC adapter - press power button for 15 seconds
Of course i would rather NOT do a system restore.
Any suggestion?

Please run HP diagnostics by pressing ESC and verify your hard drive is good. If the disk drive has uncorrectable sectors then replace it and recover your original windows using HP's cloud recovery.

You can try using a USB adapter to recovery documents from the old HDD, SDD or M.2 ie your "C" drive
If the drive is good then try a repair install of windows 11. It will preserve your documents but you will need to re-install licensed software like office adobe, ,etc

use the windows 11 iso instead of 10 but instructions are the same

I restored the system to before the latest Microsoft update and now i am able to boot normally. Well, almost normally. Somehow the system had trouble opening all the jpg and txt files with Paint and Notepad but i fixed that by repairing those two programs.
