Cannot Boot HP Pavilion Desktop

Pavilion H8-1070T
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Completed update/reinstall of program and as usual was required to reboot to complete updare process. But on restart the computer immediately displayed the "Splash Screen", a blue screen with HP in circle and "magician's hand with card-like icons flying from it- lettering at bottom of screen: "V 7.13  Press the ESC key for Startup Menu".

Computer remains frozen on that screen and nothing I did helps. Tried:  Esc, F2, F10, F11 repeatedly also after multiple including total power shutdowns and disconnection of all devices except Monitor. Can't even use rescue disk because computer doesn't get far enough along in boot process to read CD's.

Cannot Boot HP Pavilion Desktop

Hi

At power on, before the Blue Screen has time to appear, start pressing keys repeatedly, like the ESC key.

This should get you into the BIOS area.  If so, then you now have control and can change the boot sequence to BOOT from a CD/DVD/USB first.

BIOS Boot One.png   Not sure what yours will look like.

If this is a regular problem then perhaps change the Fast Start option and make a repair disk/media.

PWR and LID.png  SELECT SECURE/LEGACY BOOT AS REQUIRED, & CHANGE THE BOOT SEQUENCE ALSO AS NEEDED.

Clear the Fast Start option, and visit Microsoft and make a media.

If in doubt please ask.

Cannot Boot HP Pavilion Desktop

Thank you for your response but unforunately it is inapplicable to my problem.  Repeated tapping on the various keys such as Esc., F8, F10, F11, etc. has no effect so could not proceed along suggested steps beyond.. Many thanks for trying to assist.

Hi

So it's a replacement PC or Hard Disk.

If you are tapping the ESC key before applying power and the POST/BIOS sequence ignores that input, then there is no real hope.

Similarly  WIN key +B + Power for 1 second to repair the BIOS wont work either.

So remove the HDD and put it in a caddy and attach it as a USB external HDD, then use my method to wipe it, by formatting / re-partitioning and re-install.
