Desktop won't boot anymore

HP Recommended
HP Envy 700-309nb
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

The computer doesn't boot anymore, message no boot device found. However, after entering the BIOS by pressing F10 and choosing Apply default settings, the computer does boot entirely and shows login screen Windows. As a result i think it is a BIOS problem...

I've tried to restore to factory settings but after complete reinstall, i still encounter the same problem.

I think that it is a problem with the battery on the motherboard that has failed.  It is not keeping the BIOS settings. So, when you explicitly choose a boot-device, you're OK.  Replace the battery. Then, enter BIOS SETUP, and save the values.

Well, I've tried that too but the problem remains.

Given that it's not running Windows 10, my guess is that the HP Warranty has expired, a few years ago.

So, while you still can contact HP to get technical support, it will cost you.
