here is my problem: every time I start my computer it will make an attempt at booting then will shutdown by itself and then reboot again and will display a message telling me that the default BIOS settings have been loaded. Following this post message, Windows 10 will load normally. If ever the computer falls into sleep mode, then the same process will take place upon resuming from the sleep mode.
The BIOS version is the most recent version 80.24. I have run a DISM Restorehealth and a SFC scannow. The first one did not provide any special message other than the task was completed while the second one reported errors that were fixed. I have made an attempt at modifying some options from the BIOS. There is no problem accessing it but the changes are not recorded. I can see this by returning to the BIOS. The changes are not there anymore.
I have reset the CMOS using the jumper on the motherboard. With no surprise, I had to provide the date and time but the double booting was back.
My feeling is that there is something wrong with the CMOS but I would like to obtain a second opinion. On top of this, I would like to know if I better be shopping for another computer or if this situation will not prevent the computer for working for months to come.
