Computer does not boot.  Short DST Fails.  Failure ID:  Q4MUQ0-86W9JE-GXPT7G-60U003

Unable to recover from recovery disk.  Any suggestions?  thanks in advance.

Hi:

 

The error code reported, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, means that you will need to install a new disk drive and reinstall the operating system.

 

Below is the link to the servicing guide where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

After you replace the drive, you should be able to use your recovery disks to reinstall the operating system as long as the drive you install is the same capacity as the one that died on you.

 

If the recovery disk fails to work, or you decide to get a smaller drive, you can also clean install W10 by making bootable installation media using the Media creation tool at the link below.

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
