HP ENVY 34 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 34-c0000 (388P6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Once every month (more or less) My PC shuts down and after being able to restart it, it shows a CMOS error.

No bios configurayion seems lost, but I cannot work like this because I'm not even able to restart it remotely and I use it most the time remotely.

Any help ?

I bought it less than a year ago and my warranty is still active.

Thank You

Ettore

Hi @Ettore_Mazza,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP ENVY 34-inch All-in-One Desktop PC (34-c0000) is shutting down with a CMOS error upon restart, it might indicate an issue with the BIOS settings or the CMOS battery. Here's what you can try:

CMOS Battery Check: The CMOS battery helps retain BIOS settings. If it's old or depleted, it can cause errors. Consider replacing the CMOS battery if your desktop is several years old.

BIOS Reset: Access the BIOS settings during startup (usually by pressing a specific key like F2, F10, or DEL) and reset the BIOS to default settings. This might resolve any configuration-related issues.

Update BIOS: Visit HP's official website and check for BIOS updates for your specific model. Updating the BIOS can sometimes fix errors and compatibility issues.

Check Hardware Connections: Ensure all internal hardware components (like RAM, hard drive, etc.) are properly connected. Loose connections might cause CMOS errors.

Run hardware diagnostics: Click here

If the issue persists after trying these steps, it could indicate a more complex hardware problem. Contact HP phone support for further assistance and possibly arrange a repair or replacement if necessary.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I followed your suggestion, but since my problem is not reproduceble, we need to wait if it happens again.
I suspect i should change the CMOS battery, but the battery is not easily accessible on my AiO, besides it is less than 1 year old so I would ask for service to do it.

Thank You
