HP ENVY Recline 23-k011 TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC

I can't get this computer to boot all the way to the desktop screen. It gets stuck on a black screen after showing the HP logo when powering up. I ran the "System Quick Test" and the Hard Drive Short DST Check failed with failure ID PGAE13-000C3B-9XMNXF-60T003. Can someone help me figure what is wrong and what I need to do to getting it running again?

Welcome to the HP Forum.

 

Sorry to say you will probably have to replace the system drive when you see this error and you can't run Windows.

 

You might be able to recover data on this drive by connecting it to a different PC as a data drive.

 

HP installed W8 on your PC at the factory. You can get the HP W8 Recovery Kit at Computer Surgeons.

 

Or you can install W10 on a new system drive, if you are using this version, at this Link.

 

Download the W10 Media creation Tool. Run the tool to create W10 USB installation media.

 

Boot to this media on your PC after installing a new HDD or SSD. Check I don't have a product key during the install.

 

Do a custom install. W10 setup should see the new drive as unallocated space.

 

It is best to disconnect all other drives when doing a Windows installation to avoid over writing data on those drives. 

 

W10 should activate when your PC is connected to the network.
