HP Envy 700-210

I'm looking at a desktop that will not power on at all. I was advised it has randomly turned off before. Before being told that, I suspected possibly the power button because I knew it had gotten jammed before. I took off the covers to get to the button,  so now I'm sure it's not that.  The only light I get is on the PSU. I get no lights on the network port. I also noticed the system was plugged into the wall, not the surge protector.  Not sure if I want to go through trouble of getting the power supply for this model and replacing it, when I was already going to recommend upgrading soon. Could I even swap the drives over to another chassis temporarily?

Sorry for the bad news, but while you can certainly physically move the drives to another PC, you can't run Windows from this drive on a different PC because the HP OEM license is tied to the PC, not to the owner.  So, while it might start up and run, depending on how different the hardware is, eventually, it will deactivate and you will not be able to reactivate it.

That means if it DOES work, it will not work for long.

That's what I figured.  I just didn't know if HP didn't to the system to make it detect when it wasn't connected to HP hardware anymore. I do have some unused licenses I could upgrade to. I'm still deciding if I want to just get my hands on a power supply,  but I'm leading more towards backing up the data and finding them a good refurb.
