I have this happening weekly on a Win11 desktop and when I did some checking, I found out the filesystem is getting corrupted.  When that happens, the apps begin to freeze all the time.

You need to run CHKDSK to check and repair the filesystem.

Here's how to run CHKDSK from Command Prompt on Windows:

Type cmd (Command Prompt) in the Start menu search bar, then click Run as administrator.

Type chkdsk and hit Enter. CHKDSK will scan for drive errors and let you know if it found any you should repair, but it won't try to fix them without a command.

If you are trying to run this on the drive containing Windows, you will get a message about it running the next time you restart the PC -- because it can't run on a volume that is in use.
