pavilion 690-0019
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The HP Support assistant said i needed to update the Bios so I downloaded it and installed it all seemed to go well.

I have updated the bios Before without any problem

this time it boots to a black screen with - press esc to continue after 40 sec.

The only ports are USB ports and it wont recognize a USB keyboard ... I've tried several.

I have also tried booting from a recovery USB ...  this failed too.

none of the 6 built in usb ports seem to work

Anyone with ideas?

Does your motherboard have a "serial port"?

Do you have a PS/2 keyboard?

If yes to both, see: https://www.amazon.ca/HP-Serial-PS-Adapter-1VD82AA/dp/B077YLQGGR/ref=sr_1_133?dchild=1

Unfortunatly no!  No serial adaptor.  I do have a usb to PS/2 adaptor for a keyboard but nothing to plug it into.

It looks like the Bios is booting but unable to access the usb ports.
