Hello everyone,
I have an HP Pavilion Gaming 690-0024 which, after updating Windows 10, stays on the “Just a Moment” screen and does not proceed. I have followed general recommendations, which range from disconnecting all USB devices to cleaning out dust.
I have also systematically removed components one by one, such as memory and hard drives, for troubleshooting. I have conducted a hardware diagnostic and all components passed without issues.
The only things left to try are removing the video card to test if the machine starts without it, and updating the BIOS. However, I’m unsure how to update the BIOS if I can’t boot into Windows.
Does anyone have any ideas or advice?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @AJDM73
My pleasure.
It sounds like you tried flashing the 690-0024 BIOS using the Aptio V AMI Firmware Update Utility if you are using AfuWin64.
Use sp149071.exe from the link in my first response to create a HP USB BIOS recovery drive on a different PC.
Connect the HP USB BIOS recovery drive to your PC. Start the PC.
The HP USB recovery stick should fix the BIOS problem.
The Aptio V AMI Firmware Update Utility is not required to fix the BIOS.
Regards

Hi @AJDM73
Welcome to the HP Forum.
Your PC has the Sunflower (8433) MB. I think you may have a corrupt BIOS at this time.
You can create a USB BIOS recovery flash drive on a different PC to update the BIOS on your 690.
Check this HP Forum Link for tips to fix the problem. Use sp149071.exe at the link to create the BIOS recovery flash drive for your MB.
This HP Support video provides additional info on how to update the BIOS outside of Windows.

Thank you for your support.
I followed the steps one by one and AFUWIN gave me error 45 indicating that it could not verify the flash.
So for some reason the pc rebooted and now it is worse than before.
I think the BIOS bricked, do you know how to fix the problem?
